Reframing how we think, speak, and restore justice within our community.
OUR POLICY ADVOCACY
Shifting cultures and transforming systems toward a restorative ecosystem.
Volare supports all survivors of crime through legal, therapeutic, and advocacy services—but we don’t stop there. In order to best serve survivors, our work must make the transition from one-to-one to one-to-many, implementing systematic change at the community, state, and federal level. This unwavering pursuit is marked by strategic public policy advocacy, innovative partnerships to better serve marginalized communities, and trauma-informed community trainings. Use this page to uncover new projects, resources, and news dedicated to survivor-defined justice.
BELIEFS ROOTED IN FACTS
Current systems are not adequate to meet the diverse needs of survivors—particularly those from underserved communities.
Just 7% of elder abuse survivors receive help following a crime.
Which can lead to a loss of assets, emotional distress, or further harm.
Transgender folks are 4X more likely to experience victimization
In their lifetime compared to their cis-straight counterparts.
BLACK WOMEN ARE 35% MORE LIKELY TO EXPERIENCE INTIMATE PARTNER VIOLENCE
Compared to white women, yet they are less likely to seek help or go to the hospital.
44% of lesbians and 40% of gay men have experienced sexual violence
Compared to 35% of straight women and 21% of straight men.
